1 and 2-Day Skills Clinics

The objective of the clinics is learning in a very relaxed atmosphere. Encountering a wild mountaain trout is not the prime focus. Groups are small, a maximum of 3 flyanglers per instructor (.....remember this ratio when inquiring at other schools!!); so that you are assured personal attention & guidance. All clinics emphasize the "catch & release" ethic & the use of barbless hooks.

2-DAY BASIC SKILLS: This is a "ground zero" introduction to the foundations of flyangling. Once aquainted to the basics you can further pursue the sport at your leisure, making it as "simple or sophisticated" as you wish.

1-DAY DRY FLY or  NYMPHING SKILLS: You know  your knots, can cast 25' accurately & have landed & released some trout. You are now geared & receptive for some new concepts & tricks on moving water.

STILLWATER SKILLS: The quickest way to a trophy trout is to fish a lake. You'll be introduced to basic notions for successful flyangling via shore-line stalking, flat-tube or pontoon-boat. The "classroom" is private SawMill Lake.

GUIDING SKILLS: Per request during the last couple of years. This is not an early-season shake down of regular guides to make sure everything is in order. It is free-flowing & non-structured, providing insights & nuances about providing a quality, client-oriented service. We'll start with the inital phone contact & meeting of the client, "legal" paperwork, instructional & guiding techinques. All the suggestions are gleaned from 24 years on the "front lines" as an independent flyfishing guide/instructor as opposed to riding a desk & directing others and my 35 years experience as a flyangler....A solid foundation is presented so that you'll feel confident working with an outfitter or being an independent guide.

PRIVATE GROUPS of more than three can be arranged; ideal for business, family, or affinity groups. These clinics are tailored to your specific desires and time schedule.

THE REEL SCHOOL OF FLYFISHING

The Tahoe-Truckee area is the ideal location to indulge in the fasinating sport of flyfishing. It offers the perfect venue to "gear-down" from the abundance of "high-rev" activities available to you at this world renown recreational region.

Flyfishers increase their probability of success IF they are aware of the interacting variables. Some of the factors are: water temperature, clarity & flow; climatic conditions; food availability & activity, whether aquatic insects, terrestrials or forage fish & the trout's corresponding behavior to them; fly choice & its proper presentation. The variables have to be synthesized for optimum results https://platacard.mx/es/. When you put it all together it is very gratifying & exciting. YOU MAY GET HOOKED! As Paul McHugh, "Outdoor" feature writer for the San Francisco Chronicle said to me, "So........the software is between your ears."

We at the THE REEL SCHOOL OF FLYFISHING are a diverse group, with different personalities & each of us brings a particular talent. Our common denominator is:------a love & enthusiasm for flyfishing & the thrill of sharing our passion with others. Simply, an instructor or guide needs technical & people skills & the ability to clearly & comfortably communicate both. We are confident that we possess such competence. Demystify Flyfishing! Join us in the pristine Sierra; we love sharing the experience.
